The Dichotomy of Leadership: Leading Beyond Authority

Leadership in public administration is not limited to those with formal positional authority. This workshop explores the balance between leading through a designated role and influencing outcomes when you are not the person in charge. Participants will learn practical strategies for building trust, fostering collaboration, and exercising leadership from any position to advance organizational goals and improve public service outcomes.


Lloyd Thompson Jr., CPM, MBA, JM, was appointed to the Facility Risk, Quality and Claims department at Wekiva Springs Center (Duval County) in 2021. In this role, he is the official representative for the 120-bed psychiatric facility. Responsibly for providing guidance in the following area not limited to leadership, loss run report in reducing future PCE (potential compensation events), employee injuries, training & education. He also develops long term and short term standard operating procedures to improve the lives and outcomes of adults in the Behavioral Health community. He attended University of Central Florida majoring in Health Service Administration, Webster University with a conferred master’s in business, second master from Florida State University with a Juris master’s degree w/Medical Malpractice and pledged Phi Beta Sigma Incorporated.
